Reading Rigol DP800 Record (*.ROF) Files with Excel
The following attachment contains an Excel 2010 worksheet and instructions on converting the binary recorder (*ROF) data from a DP800 power supply to decimal.
Download the ZIP package here.
Black or Green Terminal on a Power Supply
Our power supplies are isolated power supplies. So when you connect to the black negative terminal you have connected your DUT to an isolated channel. Where as if you connect to the green terminal you are connecting your DUT to ground which will no longer have the power supply act as an isolated supply.

What is the maximum power consumption of the DP832 and DP832A?
The maximum power consumption of DP832/DP832A is 418 Watts.
DP700 Reaction Time for OVP, OCP and OPP being Exceeded
The image below shows how quickly the DP700 will turn off its output when it detects that OVP, OCP or OPP has been exceeded. The instrument below shut off its output power 26ms after it started creating the higher voltage.

How to Load a DP700 License Option
DP700 series power supply provides the following options:
Trigger: provides the trigger input and output functions.
Timer: outputs based on the preset voltage and current values.
High Resolution: improves the resolution of the instrument.
To install an option, you need an option license (each instrument has a unique license). The option license is a 28-character string, which consists of English letters and numbers. After you purchase an option, you will obtain a key (used for obtaining the option license). You can then install the option using the following steps.
(1) At the bottom of https://www.rigolna.com/ look for the license activation link:
https://licenseen.rigol.com/CustomerService/ProductRight_EN
(2) In the interface, enter the correct key, serial number and verification code. Then click Generate to obtain the option license.
Note: The hyphens in the option license should be omitted.
(3) Press the System key and press Option at the far upper right of the display. Then press the Up/Down arrow key to select the option to be installed.
(4) Press the OK key to enter the license input screen:
(5) In the License Input interface, press the Up/Down/Left/Right arrow key or use the knob to select the desired character (the English letter is not case-sensitive) on the virtual keypad, and then press OK to enter the character. The entered characters will be displayed in the “License Input Area”. While entering the characters.
Note: The hyphens in the option license should be omitted.
(6) After inputting a license, select “Save” on the virtual keypad and press OK. If the option has been successfully installed, a prompt message will be displayed.
DP700 Trigger output operation
The DP700 series power supply can receive a trigger to enable the output of the supply. Pin 8 of the RS232 interface on the rear panel is used for trigger input,
When a low level (<1.4V) is received the channel output will be turned on and when the level is equal or greater than 1.4V output will be turned off.To turn of the external trigger capability press System to enter the system utility interface. By default, the “Setting” tab is selected. Press the Up/Down arrow key to switch the parameter focus to “Trig In”, and press the Left/Right arrow key or the knob to enable the trigger input function.

DP700 transient voltage on power up
The DP700 series power supply will show a transient voltage on the outputs when the power supply is powered up. Typically the transient voltage will show approximately 400mV p-p over a 200us duration.
The DP700 power supplies do not have output relays to to enable output after the power supply has been turned on and has stabilized. It is recommended that connections be made to a device after the power supply has been powered up if you are working with circuitry that is sensitive to this transient voltage.
Confirming what options are installed on the DP800 series
Options can be added to the non “A” version of the DP800 power supplies to give them the same capabilities as the A version power supplies.
To see what options are currently installed on your power supply press Utility key and go to page 2. Now press Option to see the status of the six listed options. If Official is listed with an option the power supply has that option turned on.
Non A version power supplies will continue to have the monochrome display even if all options are installed:

How to Load a Timer File
The DP800 allows the user to create timer functions either directly on the instrument through the timer interface or by loading a timer file onto the instrument. To load the timer file press the Timer button then press Timer Set and then arrow over to the second page of the Timer Set menu, on this page of the menu you will be able to save a timer file either to the instrument or to a thumb drive. To load a timer file press the Read button and then select which browser the file is saved in and then select the file. Once the file has been selected press the Read button.
